Snowstorm Can't Stop Her | Austin Boudoir Studio

I'm stepping back into the blogging game finally (I know, it's been a minute), and lucky for me (and you), I've got QUITE the stockpile of incredible women with incredible stories and images. So let's get this show back on the road!

Miss Y. This girl was so much damn fun to work with.  

A photographer herself, Miss Y understood the value of a boudoir experience and she braved a snowstorm to fly to me from across the country, and we shot on a day that Austin was SHUT THE EFF DOWN because of a little bit of ice and cold. (We're wimps. I'll be the first to admit it as a girl who was born and raised in the #1 snowiest city in the country many years). 

We both brought our A games and came up with a collection of photos that was so representative of her and her badassery, while glamming it up a little with some leather and boots, letting her show off some story-telling scars of hers, and just overall killing.it.

"Having a boudoir experience with Kara Marie was my dream. I had been following her for over 2 years before the stars aligned. I wanted to do this to celebrate myself. "

"I traveled all of the way from North Carolina to Austin during a snow storm. It was worth it. She is absolutely on point in everything that she does. Seriously does this woman sleep? I am obsessed with my images. I am ready to do it again."

If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen little peeks of this blonde bombshell and her killer boudoir shoot. She showed up with her friend, a bottle of champagne, and a kick ass attitude, and left with a really incredible set of images just for her own damn self.

When she first contacted me about a photo shoot, her email signature was followed by a quote. If you know me or follow me at all, you know that I'm a quote girl. SO...I knew we were a match made in boudoir photographer/client heaven before I even met her. It said:

This set. This set with the classy red lingerie, chanel pearls, red bottoms, and fur coat just SCREAMED magazine ad to me! Miss W seriously rocked it! I'm thrilled with our finished product. 

Hell yes to rocking a boudoir shoot. Hell yes to doing so for YOU. Hell YESSSS to feeling even better about yourself after you're done. I love these kinds of stories.

If you have been a long time follower slash boudoir yearner but haven't taken the plunge yet, you are not alone. 
 

SO many of my clients don't actually become my clients until they've followed me and my work for a few years, and then they read a particular blog or see a particular image that speaks to them and they finally have the nerve to send an email.

After that, it's all easy as pie. Mmmm. Pie. There's a pumpkin one in my fridge riiiiight now. Waiting for me. Calling me. I imagine the pie has a very seductive voice. "Karraaaaaaa! EAT ME! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO." Whoah. Sorry. Note to self: No hungry blogging. 

But really, I do make everything SO completely easy for my clients. From prepping/shopping for your session to making your final selections, I really do direct you on every little thing. So sending that email is the hardest part. Promise. 

Miss H, here, was one of those "long time followers" who finally bit the bullet! I'm so glad she did! We had SUCH a fun time at her shoot, and even more at her photo reveal when she brought her girlfriend in for a surprise date. I MIIIIGHT have pretended that I was an ordained minister and that I was about to marry them on the spot before finally revealing that they were there to see Miss H's boudoir photos. Might have.

Motherhood hasn't stripped you of your womanhood | Austin Boudoir Studio

When you have a baby, you pretty much want to wear the largest poncho that Costco has to offer and a bag over your head. Learning to love yourself after you've birthed a human is no easy feat.  Some of us hold on to 40lbs for what seems like a lifetime. Some of us bounce right back and have to deal with all the other moms hating us even though we still have mom insecurities, too.  Some of us develop crazy hormonal mental problems and can't see anything but our flaws.

The miracle happens when you have see yourself looking incredible for the first time after having a baby. You NEED to know that you've still got it....and that motherhood hasn't stripped you of your womanhood.

Because it hasn't. 

You're still a woman. You're still gorgeous...sexy even. 

Miss "M" here had a shoot and got to experience this first hand. Yes, she's a slim girl...but that certainly doesn't mean that she doesn't have any "mombod" insecurities. All women have them...no matter their shape or size. 

She rocked the hell out of her photo shoot and got to see that, damnit, she still had it!

"I did this shoot as a present for my soon to be hubby to give to him moments before the wedding! It's taking all the power inside of me not to tell him!!

Following me on Instagram has it's perks, y'all!  A while back, I did a mega huge giveaway with a slew of prizes from local Austin businesses. That giveaway included a boudoir experience with me.....the WORKS, actually! Miss "M" here was given over $2,500 worth of goods and services and her shoot couldn't have gone more spectacular! 

She was a ball of positivity and enthusiasm and it was an absolute honor to get to photograph her!

A common misconception is that the women whose photos I share are fearless, uber confident super models. While I agree, they may appear effortlessly stunning and brave, and they're all beautiful and AWESOME....you should know: THEY ARE JUST LIKE YOU. They are afraid of the experience. They want it SO bad but they hesitate to pull the trigger because they couldn't POSSIBLY look as amazing as the others on my site.

Today's post is just another example of an amazing woman who was terrified...TERRIFIED, y'all...to have her photos taken in this capacity. She put on her big girl panties (and tossed back a few cocktails) and sent me an email.  

Here's what she had to say:

"I would love to pretend like the confident, gorgeous woman in my photos showed up that way that day. But the truth is this: I only had the courage to schedule a boudoir shoot with Click Chick because I happened to pull up her (bookmarked) blog after consuming one too many adult beverages. You see, I'd followed her postings religiously, always sighing in awe at the brave and empowered women she managed to photograph so beautifully. "What would it take for me to become one of those women?", I'd wonder. Turns out . . . just a couple of peach-flavored vodkas on the rocks! 

I'm not sure if my trepidation was the result of traumatization via over a decade of Catholic schooling or what, but I was N-E-R-V-O-U-S about my shoot. Like, didn't-sleep-at-all-the-night-before-chucked-my-morning-coffee-across-the-room-and-accidentally-backed-my-car-into-my-sister's-on-the-way-to-the-studio nervous! But seriously, there was nothing to be nervous about! The experience was everything I could have hoped for . . . and so much more. Kara and Lauren bent over backwards to make me feel at ease from the moment I got there (and they only teased me a little when I chugged a glass-and-a-half of champagne and then proceeded to pace around the room like a crazy person)."

I still cannot believe how beautiful Lauren made me look! She is part makeup artist, part magician, I swear! And then there is Kara. She is so insanely talented . . . it kind of blows my mind. Let's just say that I am not exactly a natural at sexy posing, beautiful facial expressions, etc. But that didn't matter in the slightest because Kara gave the most amazing direction ever, demonstrating every pose (sometimes several times) until I got it just right. And her encouragement and positivity made me feel so comfortable and confident that, by the end of the shoot, I had stripped down to nothing but a pair of cheeky panties!"

"As much fun as the experience itself was, it was what I'll call the "afterglow effect" that really made the difference for me. I left that studio feeling like a complete bad ass! And not just any bad ass; a gorgeous, irresistible, goddess-like bad ass! I felt . . . like one of the women I'd been admiring for months (And this was BEFORE I'd seen even a single photo)! Honestly, I just cannot say enough about how incredible the whole experience was. I am going to make it my mission to convince each and every woman in my life to schedule a shoot with Kara! And you better believe that I'll be a repeat customer! Also, next time? I'll be wearing WAY less clothing! :)"

See the magic that happens when you step out of your comfort zone a bit? One of my favorite quotes comes to mind... "Don't be afraid to go out on a limb. That's where all the fruit is.". 

This beauty had her photo reveal with me yesterday and, yet again, I truly wish that I could have recorded her reaction. I have never been so worried about a client PASSING OUT at the sight of her photos. That was her. Freaking.out. It was amazing!  And now she's brainstorming about her next session...wearing less.  ATTA GIRL!

This shoot was truly one-of-a-kind, as you will see. It's not often (ok, so it's not EVER) that you see a boudoir shoot done in a bar. This client contacted me a few years ago with a pretty solid location idea in mind. The result was so fun! Checkity check it out (I rapped that.)!

Miss S was such a badass trooper strutting around the bar in her undertheres (and even outside for a few!!). It just goes to show you, that, when you step outside of your comfort zone, magic can happen!
